Vittorio Sainati The article deals with the possible contemporary meanings of the word ÒcatholicityÓ. To this end, it focuses upon the developing of an irreversible crisis of theological apophantic. In the history of Christian thought, such a crisis urged to fix the very dimension of transcendence in metaphysical objective assertions. Christian God is, however, the God of ÒulteriorityÓ. This being the case, new languages to express faith seem to be needed. From a theological perspective, the elaboration of a new Christology, conceived with a different meaning, could foster such a task.
